about Lance

Hi, my name is Lance Lanagan and I’m the “Big Cheese” (and only cheese allowed) here at Lanagan Photography. I’ve read through many other photographers’ bio pages and found the majority all said essentially the same thing. “I’ve loved taking pictures since leaving the womb, and it’s my passion and I love shooting “natural, unposed images”, bla. bla, bla.

Now, I’m not saying that I don’t feel the same, I’m just saying it’s become cliche to say all of that in your “About Me” section. Also, I don’t much like thinking about my mom’s womb.

I consider myself a laid-back, soft-spoken guy with a bit of God-given artistic talent, and a burning drive to constantly refine and improve it. It’s not my nature to insert myself into the moments I’m hired to photograph, rather to recognize those moments, and capture them in an artistic and meaningful way. That said, I do know the principles of good lighting, and how to pose someone to flatter them – without it looking “posey”. I think it’s that combination of unobtrusive style, experience, and technical knowledge that make me, yes, I’ll say it… special.

Oh, I should also add that I love Starbucks, my iPad, and ketchup (but not Catsup…what’s up with that?).
